Jason started his career at KPMG Peat Marwick in the audit department emphasizing primarily on community banks and Real Estate Investment Trusts, (REITs).  He performed audits on banks with assets from $100 million to $3 billion.  After a year, Jason became the lead audit in-charge on local banks and REITs.  He also served on the engagement team for equity offerings and debt offerings of a NYSE listed company.  Jason then moved to the tax department where as a supervising senior, he served banks, REITs, and broker dealers.  He performed tax planning and tax returns for these entities. 

In addition to the audit and tax duties, Jason became KPMG’s youngest recruiting manager.  He took over the entire recruiting process after being at the company for only two years.  Some of the duties he was in charge of include coordinating with colleges and universities, weeding out potential candidates, interviews, and hiring. 

Following Jason’s employment at KPMG, he moved to the specialized strategies group at Vining Sparks.  This group consisted of 5 individuals that worked daily on fixed income transactions exceeding $100 million dollars.  During his tenure Jason created value for customers by designing strategies to swap securities and perform leverage transactions.  He also helped resolve asset/liability problems and tax problems for banks with swap and leverage transactions.  He authored several articles for trade publications, conducted Board of Director Seminars, and built models to help S Corp banks maximize earnings.

 
Jason is now a Senior Vice President of Sales in the Premium Strategies Group of Vining Sparks where he serves institutional clients nationwide.  This group includes 12 salesmen and a Senior Analyst who are CPAs and/or CFAs.  Jason uses his strong accounting and regulatory knowledge coupled with his extensive product knowledge to provide a superior level of service to his clients. 

Jason passed the CPA and CFA exams on his first try and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tennessee society of CPAs, Tennessee CFA Society and the CFA Institute.  He is a NASD Series 7 General Securities Representative and a Series 63 State licensee. 

Jason is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business with Emphasis in Accounting.  He also received a Master of Science in Accounting from Rhodes College.  He and his wife, Ginna, reside in Memphis with their daughters Brittain, and Ella.
